#003 Bold Brushstrokes & coffee
Today, I wanted to write and analyze Jordi Artigas's work. Jordi is a great example of neo-expressionism. While some artists decide to use drippings, scratching, or layering techniques, Jordi focuses on bold brushwork. His paintings create a secret calligraphic sculpture that stands out prominently either alone in the middle or playing together in a multitude of shapes. These strokes come with strong contrast to the background, usually in thick black strokes, but also in fluorescent and warm colors that pop out of the paintings. The compositions are a clear language laid out against a real coffee background or sometimes on a white painted canvas. As finishing touches, he adds some light, thin flashes that bring the piece to an end. On a personal note, I believe the passion of Jordi's art, which pursues an elegant aesthetic, clearly unveils his character and soul.
